A new revolutionary super hub for the Royal Mail in The West Midlands
Royal Mail has reinforced its parcels business with the launch of a new automated super hub in Rugby, Warwickshire.
The entire site spans 53 acres, with a main volume of 1.3 million cubic metres.
The new hub, which will see up to 1,600 vehicles in and out of the site daily, can process more than one million items per day. It is also estimated that up to 235 million parcels will pass through the site yearly.
The internal works for the hub feature mechanical and electrical installations to the main hall area. In addition, the fit out of administration areas to create offices and welfare areas including the fit out of Royal Mail’s new training academy.
The external works included the installation of gantries, a vehicle weighbridge, vehicle washing, rail platform welfare accommodation and refuelling areas.
The super hub is located near warehouses and fulfilment centres of several major online retailers.
