Stace was heavily involved during the early design stages, providing various feasibility cost estimates to assist in the assessment of the financial viability of each proposed option. Following engagement with the local authority planning department, Stace engaged a contractor and commenced contract negotiations, which were successfully executed within the programme dates and client budget.

The project delivery programme was very tight, particularly in terms of the construction period. Due to the nature of student accommodation projects and the importance of meeting the start of the academic year, Stace, along with the entire project team and main contractor, worked closely to ensure any potential issues were resolved in a timely manner to minimise any risk of delay. This included carrying out demolition and strip out works during the design stage under a separate contract to mitigate risks further and provide greater cost certainty.

The works have now been completed on site and students successfully moved in during September 2016.

Mary Morris House now boasts 247 student bedrooms across 45 new apartments and houses varying from two to eight bedrooms.
