Our client, Qualis revitalised industrial space in Waltham Abbey, Essex. The scheme involved the demolition of existing 1970s brick built industrial units and the construction of four new lightweight framed industrial units.
The new, modern buildings comprise of a shell and core envelope with a mezzanine floor, a ground floor customer entrance with a reception area, and staff facilities. Additionally, a double height roller shutter for vehicular entrance was integrated into the units.
The design of the buildings targeted BREEAM Very Good, EPC A+ rating, Net Zero Carbon, and Secured by Design certification and also include PV elements.
With the site located close to the M25 and A10, the units were expected to be in high demand. The scheme was anticipated to create modern industrial units that would redevelop the area and create both immediate and high value employment opportunities.
Demolition works started on site in 2023, and the project reached practical completion in September 2024. The buildings, known as Waltham Connect, are owned and let by Qualis Commercial, the Architect for the project was Louis de Soissons.
