Well done to Stace representatives who took on the Breakfast Challenge at the Whitechapel Mission this morning. The team of seven arrived at 5.45 am to prep, cook and serve breakfast to over 250 people before cleaning all the equipment and surfaces, leaving the centre spotless.
The Whitechapel Mission is open every day throughout the year, from 6am each day and serves a free breakfast from 8am with a large choice from cereals to a full English. A further two volunteers helped out at the advice centre which equips people, regardless of background with skills to sustain tenancies, secure employment and integrate into the wider community. According to City Hall, 5,712 people were seen sleeping rough in the capital between April and September this year and with the cost of living crisis making it even harder for people to make ends meet, this felt like a particularly worthy cause.
Richard Canton, who organised the session said: “Despite the early alarm clock I’m so pleased we helped out this morning at Whitechapel Mission. It felt like we made a real difference for some of London’s homeless, some of whom hadn’t eaten since yesterday’s breakfast.”
Mark Ashby, Partner said “We have had a positive impact on the lives of homeless and other vulnerable today, tackling challenges a number of them faced – be it be receiving benefits, finding housing or a temporary place to stay. We hope Stace’s contribution has assisted in improving their lives. Today’s volunteering is part of our activities to be a Responsible Business by giving back to our community.”
Thank you to Richard Canton, Richard Abbott, Alistair Wardle, Emily Barker, Gregory Mitchell, Stefanos Cholevas and Gareth Sinnamon who took part in the breakfast challenge and Zoe Playle and Mark Ashby for volunteering at the advice centre.
