We are pleased to announce our involvement in BDO’s transition to a new office space. The accountancy and business advisory firm is relocating its 500-strong Manchester team to Eden – a new 12-storey, green office development designed to be net zero carbon in operation in the city centre.
Works included the design of CAT B fit-out incorporating BDO’s agile working and Stace developed corporate design principles. The firm will reside on levels 8 & 9 of the site, which equates to 23,000 sq ft. A mezzanine level offering meeting rooms and a meet and greet can also be found on the occupied levels.
A talent attraction and retention assessment has been executed to assist with the design brief on the project. As a result, some important components have been considered in the design phase, such as improved interaction with a café space, visibility, connection and community and the provision of a zoning strategy reinforcing different working styles, activities and individual needs.
The new building is one of the UK’s greenest buildings and includes sustainability credentials including a NABERS rating of 5.5 stars. The building aims to run on 100% renewable energy and also features Europe’s biggest green wall façade, which is said to supply a 174% net gain in the biodiversity of the area.
With a BREEAM Outstanding rating, the amount of embodied carbon within the 115,000 sq ft building has been limited during construction to less than 700kg/CO2/sqm, in comparison to the 1,000kg/CO2/sqm that is usually contained within traditional office buildings.
Fit-out works are proposed to start on site in January 2024 with a target completion of April 2024.
