This work was part of a major regeneration project between the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and the Greater London Authority to clear run-down brownfield sites, remediate contamination and upgrade the local housing stock for the area.
The Ice House Quarter, originally known as Abbey Road, is a major mixed-use development in Barking, which has delivered 278 new residences along with employment and commercial space.
A joint venture with Bouygues Development and London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Stace provided Employers Agent and CDM-C services on this major development, with a strong focus on sustainability.
This development was completed in two stages. Phase I included a mixed-used scheme to provide 134 affordable dwellings and ground floor retail units, specifically designed for creative industries. Phase II provided a further 144 residential units with associated underground car parking and external landscaping areas.
Abbey Road is a landmark development and seeks to incorporate a wide range of initiatives to encourage future residents and workers to adopt more sustainable lifestyles and transport options.
