Background
The fitting out of a 20 MW Energy Centre, comprising gas-fired CHP units and boilers, to provide heat and hot water, via a new district heating network, to circa 5000 homes.
The project encompasses the fitting out and initial commissioning of the Energy Centre plus the associated District Heating Network control system.
The Energy Centre is located in the base of a 24-storey residential tower that has required specialist investigations to be undertaken. The site also has significant spatial constraints which have created challenges for both the design and construction process. The fit-out contract is all managed during a larger main construction site adding to logistical challenges and time critical service delivery.
The project also includes the provision of a temporary energy centre and works to the district heating network that totals 3km of pipework serving multiple plots.
