Cambridge adds to its portfolio of science and innovation centres

The project will see the redevelopment of former Bayer Crop Science wastewater treatment works in Hauxton into a science and innovation space, including six detached laboratory-enabled buildings, a 30-acre country park, and a tailored amenity building for use by the local community.

Located in South Cambridge, the campus will offer 343,000 sq ft of high-quality and flexible workspace near established research centres, playing a significant role in supporting small and medium-sized start-ups, especially in the life sciences industry.

Plans also include training space for schools, colleges, and universities to help both young and experienced students, and the project is expected to create numerous job opportunities.

Included in the development will be research and development (R&D) buildings together with infrastructure works, site preparation, public realm and external works, site services, and drainage.

Targeting BREEAM ‘Outstanding’, the campus is anticipated to be one of the first fossil fuel-free campus’ in Cambridge.
