Practical Completion was recently achieved on a £1.6m new build extension project for Milton Keynes City Council. It follows on from Stace’s successful completion of a Phase 1 internal refurbishment in 2022. We were appointed via the SCAPE Consultancy Framework to provide Building Surveying Design, Employer’s Agent, Cost Management and Construction Design and Management services to extend a former Pupil Referral Unit in Bletchley, Milton Keynes
The building will provide school places to Milton Keynes pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, with a specific focus around Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and the environment has been tailor-made to address these need. Alterations to the building fabric have been considered and implemented across both phases of work to reduce the audio / visual impact of the spaces including:
The extension doubles the footprint of the building to provide an additional classroom, sports hall, medical room, extended playground and car park and other ancillary spaces. Milton Keynes City Council is striving to be the UK’s greenest. The extension has therefore been designed to achieve EPC A, incorporating air source heat pumps, underfloor heating and a solar PV array.
Stace provided Architecture services in addition to Employer’s Agent, Cost Management, Principal Designer services working alongside Brontide Consulting and CSP London.
