Delivering High-Quality Accommodation for University Students in Coventry

120 Longwood Close is an ambitious purpose built student accommodation scheme which is being delivered to cater for the demands of Coventry and Warwick Universities.

McLaren Construction has been selected as the construction partner to deliver the project which involves the demolition of two existing three-story commercial buildings and a multi storey car park.

Nine PBSA blocks will be constructed, comprising 1,078 student accommodation rooms and 131 co-living units. The six-floor co-living building at the front of the site, introduces 7,040 sq ft of retail space for two commercial units which will enhance local amenities for the business park and surrounding areas but also contribute to the overall revitalization of the site.

120 Longwood Close also aims to create new public amenity spaces, providing residents and the community with enjoyable open green areas.

The project is committed to achieving BREEAM ‘Excellent’ for the Student Accommodation units and ‘Very Good’ for the Commercial Space, emphasizing sustainable and environmentally conscious design practices.

In addition to addressing housing needs for students, the development holds promising social and economic benefits for the area. With over 1,200 new occupants expected upon completion, 120 Longwood Close will contribute to generating new opportunities within the local community. This local contribution has started at the construction stage with McLaren Construction focused on using local labour to deliver the scheme and also taking on 4 new apprentices which shows their commitment to the next generation.

Stace is also diligently working alongside the client and project team to ensure compliance with the 2023 Building Safety Act as the development will be under construction during the transitionary period. Demolition work concluded at the end of 2023, marking the commencement of on-site activities. The first phase of the development is set for completion in 2025.
