Our client, Rangeford Villages secured detailed planning approval to build a new retirement village in Stapleford, by unanimous decision, at the South Cambridgeshire planning committee in February 2023.
The scheme, which has started on site, will deliver 147 one, two and three-bedroom bungalows and apartments, which will feature state-of-the-art amenities and energy-efficient features.
Residents will benefit from a centrally located amenity block offering facilities such as a swimming pool, sauna, yoga/dance studio and salon. There is also a private dining area, snooker room, lounge and bistro.
Additionally, the scheme will deliver an abundance of outdoor spaces which include gardens, allotments and a bowls green. Sustainability and green space are at the heart of this development with sustainable urban drainage threaded through the landscape and a new countryside park opening to the public at the same time. The adjacent park provides 47 acres of natural chalk grassland and native planting to significantly enhance local biodiversity.
The buildings are generally of traditional construction with strip foundations, external cavity walls, concrete upper floors and timber pitched roofs with slates. Built in three phases, the project will break ground this summer with the first phase of the scheme is estimated to be completed in 2024.
Octopus Real Estate, part of the Octopus Group, are funding the project following successful joint ventures with Rangeford Villages in Wadswick Green in Wiltshire, Mickle Hill in North Yorkshire, Siddington Park in the Cotswolds, and Homewood Grove in Surrey.
