A refurbishment for a cultural and architectural development in Walthamstow

Central Parade is a distinctive and long-standing building in the heart of London Borough of Waltham Forest. The mixed-use project played a key part in the borough’s town centre regeneration strategy, which saw the construction of a part three, four, and five-storey mixed-use building at the rear of the Grade II listed Central Parade.

The project involved the demolition of existing garages, and in replacement provided 19 residential units. The scheme created 11 homes for social rent and eight for shared ownership, with a flexible commercial unit at ground level.

The ground floor commercial space and public realm has been upgraded to create a link between the new and existing buildings. The ground floor also features other improvements including bicycle parking, plant and refuse storage and the relocation of an electrical sub-station.

The new homes have been constructed with sustainability at the forefront, including solar roof panels to provide electricity, and an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of B or above to reduce the cost of carbon emissions and heating.
