The new hotel extension is adjacent to the existing LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort Hotel and offers medieval style rooms within a fully themed castle.
Consisting of three stories, the extension offers an additional 61 rooms to the existing hotel. There is also a bespoke lobby/reception area, outdoor decking and play area overlooking the lake, and an a la carte themed restaurant.
The development plans aligned with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council’s visitor strategy of persuading guests to ‘stay longer and spend more’, whilst also supporting the Resort’s long term plan.
Stace delivered Project Management, Employer’s Agent, Cost Management and CDM coordinator services.
Stace took a strategic lead working with Merlin Attractions Operations and LEGOLAND to define and develop a deliverable vision within challenging constraints, setting out a path through a complex process of statutory consultations and the specific constraints of operating within the wider LEGOLAND Resort.
This project included not just the construction of the new LEGOLAND Castel Hotel, but also comprised the construction of a new extension to the existing Bricks restaurant and Skyline Bar, reconfiguration of the reception area to the existing hotel, creation of a new VIP reception and retail store, and the addition of an outdoor play area. With live construction work in an operating hotel presenting a significant challenge, Stace managed the coordination of works in the existing hotel.
The hotel opened on time, guest feedback is good and Stace are working with Merlin Attractions Operations on a number of other developments across the country.
