Background
Coventry Cathedral, designed by Sir Basil Spence, was completed in 1962 as a replacement for the original Cathedral that was reduced to ruin during the blitz of 1940.
The original Grade I listed ruins remains as a derelict attraction with only the main tower remaining fully intact.
The current Cathedral is now over 50 years old and the building fabric was beginning to fail in certain areas. Multiple improvements were required to provide better facilities for both visitors and users.
Our Role
Stace was appointed by Coventry Cathedral to provide cost management services on the Grade I Chapel of Unity.
Our role included cost planning and procurement to complete repairs and renewal works.
Additionally, we provided post-contract services comprising cost reporting, change control, legal considerations for the post Contract contractor designed portion fixing works and completing the final account.
Our Impact
Further to our success on this scheme, Stace has been appointed to deliver a new temporary pavilion above the site of the Cathedral Refectory and Song School.
Our appointment includes the refurbishment of the existing Refectory, Song School and Kitchen facilities.
